Honda Trailsport: Honda's new off-road brand

Honda yesterday unveiled a new brand that puts the emphasis on off-road driving and off-road capabilities. Trailsport represents Honda's best in off-the-beaten-path performance with tougher styling, unique design cues, exclusive interior accents and standard torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive.

Honda says that eventually Trailsport models will also get bigger tires, a full-size spare tire, more ground clearance, off-road tuned suspension, additional protection under the vehicle and even more capable off-road suspension.

"TrailSport represents the next chapter in our rugged direction and will bring exclusive styling to our existing light trucks that will appeal to buyers seeking adventure,” said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of National Operations at American Honda. “Our U.S. engineering team is leveraging more than 20 years of experience creating highly capable light trucks to develop this new series of adventure-ready vehicles.”

Concretely, we can expect that Trailsport will be found on models like the Honda Ridgeline, the Honda Passport and the Honda Pilot. It is also possible to see the Trailsport versions of the Honda CR-V and Honda HR-V.

Initially, the Trailsport versions will have a cabin finished with exclusive orange stitching, carpets that are easily washed while the exterior will feature a redesigned and more robust overall look, off-road cladding and redesigned front and rear bumpers.

The first Trailsport models arrive this fall.
