The new 2022 Honda Civic Si was introduced today with everything that has made the model so successful in years past, along with impressive new changes that make it even better. It is the perfect enthusiast’s car with its accessible starting price and remarkable performance, and now the Civic Si is even more powerful and handles even better. Let’s take a closer look.

A more powerful engine and a retuned suspension in the 2022 Honda Civic Si

The all-new 2022 Honda Civic Si is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. This engine is actually quicker than the outgoing Civic Si’s engine thanks to a new mapping for the engine torque curve. This engine delivers its torque starting at 1,800 rpm, which is 300 rpm sooner than the previous model.

This translates into more power sooner which means the 2022 Honda Civic Si accelerates faster, passes faster, and reacts with less hesitation. It will also brake better thanks to larger brakes.

The Civic Si has a new suspension as well that delivers better handling and improved stability. A range of elements are stiffer in the Civic Si including:

60-percent stiffer torsion bar connecting the steering shaft to the steering rack pinion gear
8-percent improvement in torsional rigidity
13-percent improvement in bending rigidity
83-percent stiffer front compliance bushings
8-percent stiffer front spring rates
54-percent stiffer rear spring rates

This means the 2022 Honda Civic Si will handle better and provide sharper handling while also feeling more stable and offering a tighter connection between the car and the driver.

A six-speed manual is standard, and it now has rev matching capability. The car’s behaviour can be modified using three distinct drive modes, Normal, Sport, and Individual. The latter gives owners the ability to put specific parameters for the steering, engine, and interior layout.

Speaking of the interior, the 2022 Honda Civic Si is more luxurious and comes with more features including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose sound system, and a 10-inch centre digital instrument cluster.
